PostSubject: situating cactus collection   Fri Apr 27, 2012 4:58 pm

i all,
I'm from Perth, Western Australia. I grow orchids, roses, citrus, veges and work on bonsai too. Cactui and succulents are in my sights as another way of growing interesting things. I have so far got an Aloe of some sort, Mamillaliara (old lady pin cushion) and a enchinocactus (sp?) 'golden barrell.)

can i plant those species together in a group planting in a medium - large sized shallowish container - babies bath tub? Does the Aloe have similar or different requirements than the cactus i have bought?

also, W.A is very hot and dry in summer and mild in winter with some rain. can I put these plants out in full sun and in the elements like cold winds and occasional rain?

at the moment they are under cover in my patio which receives relatively bright indirect light but not full sun. we are in Autumn here and still getting 28 deg celcius days .

any help afforded a newbie much appreciated

cheers

Adrian
