hi all i read a couple of posts how to save rain water, what i do is, i brought one of those kids shell shape plastic wading pools at a market for $5.00, when it rains i put it out in the yard, i collect the water putting it into 2 litre coke bottles or 3 litre milk bottles, this gives me plenty to keep me going till it rains again, won,t work in a draught area. lol peter olsen

U could always disconnect a downpipe and have it drop straight into a 44gal drum or similar with fly-wire over top to stop mosquitoes. If you had it on a stand and add tap to bottom you'd be set, could even pipe run-off back into bottom of downpipe if won;t drain away from house naturally. Even a drum half that size would cover a fair sized collection over an extended dry summer.

If stand was night and high you could then attach hose wtih trigger, you'd have low pressure but you don;t want to blast the plants anyway.

Now the question is, anyone know where a good drum can be had in Melbourne that's cheap and hasn't been used for nasty stuff...
